Recent Transformations

AC Installation: Swapping a 19-Year-Old Carrier for a New Trane System in East Cobb

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter

The old Carrier condenser had been limping along since 2006, running loud enough that the homeowner could hear it from the kitchen when the windows were open. Rust had eaten through the bottom pan, and the compressor was drawing more amps than it should. We removed the old unit, replaced the pad with a new composite base, installed the new Trane condenser and matched coil, and reconnected the line set with fresh filter driers. The result runs at roughly half the sound level, and the homeowner’s July utility bill dropped by about 21% compared to the same month the year before.

Furnace Repair: Replacing a Cracked Heat Exchanger in a Goodman Furnace in Kennesaw

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter

This was caught during a repair call for a furnace that kept tripping its rollout switch. When we pulled the blower assembly and inspected the exchanger with a scope, we found a hairline crack in the second cell from the left. A cracked heat exchanger can push carbon monoxide into the living space, so we shut the gas off at the unit and walked the homeowner through the options. Replacing the exchanger in a 9-year-old Goodman came in far below the cost of a new furnace, and the written price was in their hands before any parts were ordered. The repair is covered under the 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if that exchanger cracks again within a year, we come back and correct it at no charge.

AC Repair: Evaporator Coil Replacement on a Lennox Unit in Powder Springs Road Corridor

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Placeholder: corroded coil showing pinhole leaks before removal (left), new coil brazed in and pressure tested (right). Photo coming soon.

The call came in as “not cooling, and there’s a hissing sound from the air handler.” The hissing was refrigerant escaping through a pinhole in the A-coil, which had corroded from years of flowing Atlanta humidity across the fins. We recovered the remaining refrigerant, pulled the old coil, and installed a new matched Lennox coil with a fresh orifice. After pressure testing with nitrogen and pulling a proper vacuum, we recharged the system to the manufacturer’s spec. Before we left, the supply air temperature was 57 degrees with the thermostat set to 74. That coil replacement carries the written 365-day guarantee like every other repair.

AC Installation: Converting a 1990s Condo from a Window Unit to a Ductless Mini-Split in Downtown Marietta

Older condos around the Square were never built with central air, and the homeowner had been rotating two window units for fifteen summers. The living room stayed tolerable, but the bedroom never dropped below 80 on a hot night. We installed a two-zone ductless mini-split from Daikin, one head in the living area and one in the bedroom, with the outdoor unit on a bracket off the back balcony. The window units are gone, the bedroom now holds at 72 without a fight, and the whole system runs on roughly a third of the electricity the window units pulled. The homeowner also qualified for a Georgia Power rebate, and we handled the paperwork before the install was scheduled.

Furnace Repair: Ignitor and Flame Sensor Replacement in a Rheem Furnace in Northeast Marietta

Placeholder: cracked silicon nitride ignitor removed from burner assembly (left), new ignitor and cleaned flame sensor installed (right). Photo coming soon.

This one came in on the first cold snap of the season in November. The furnace would kick on, the draft inducer would spin, and then nothing. No ignition, no heat. The ignitor had a crack running through the middle of the silicon nitride element, which you can’t see until you pull it out and hold it up to the light. Most furnace ignitor replacements run $150 to $280, parts and labor included, and this one fell in that range. We also pulled the flame sensor, which was coated in a thin layer of silicon, and cleaned it with a non-abrasive pad. The furnace lit on the first try after that. The written price was handed over before a single tool came out, and the repair is covered for 365 days.

AC Repair: Condenser Fan Motor and Capacitor Replacement on a York Unit Near Laurel Park

The homeowner called on a Sunday afternoon with a condenser that was buzzing but not spinning. The fan motor had seized, and the capacitor was bulging at the top, which happens when the motor pulls too many amps trying to start. We replaced both, along with a new fan blade because the old one had been knocking against the guard before the motor let go. Total time from phone call to cool air was just under three hours. A seized condenser motor on a 95-degree day isn’t just uncomfortable; it’s a strain on the compressor, which can push a $400 repair into a $4,000 replacement if it overheats. This repair is covered under the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and the homeowner got the written guarantee before the technician packed up.
