A Daikin thermostat installation in Marietta typically runs $180 – $420, parts and labor included, and in most cases we can complete the swap the same day we diagnose the problem. The most common situations we see: a thermostat that has gone completely blank, one that reads the wrong room temperature by five degrees or more, or a Daikin unit that short-cycles because the thermostat can’t hold a signal. We keep Daikin-compatible thermostats and universal smart thermostats on the truck, so there’s a good chance the fix is one visit, not two.
If your Daikin system is running fine but the thermostat on the wall has stopped controlling it, the issue is almost always the controller, not the heat pump or air handler. That’s actually good news. A thermostat swap is one of the least invasive repairs we do, and it usually costs less than most people expect once we confirm the wiring and confirm what the Daikin system actually needs.
Which Daikin Models This Applies To
Daikin builds thermostats under several line names: the ComfortNet series, the One+ smart thermostat, and older DTST and CTK models that shipped with Daikin FIT, Daikin DZ, and Daikin DX split systems. Before you order any replacement, look at the back of the existing thermostat or the inside of the battery compartment. You’ll see a model number stamped there, something like CTK04, CTK02, or DTST-CWBSA-N. That number matters more than the furnace or heat pump model, because Daikin’s communicating thermostats are not universally interchangeable even within their own lineup.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most Marietta homeowners run into: Daikin’s communicating thermostats use a proprietary four-wire protocol, not the standard 18/5 thermostat wiring most homes have. You cannot drop a $40 big-box thermostat onto a Daikin FIT system and expect it to run correctly. The system may power up, but the variable-speed blower, humidity control, and defrost logic will sit idle because those functions live in the thermostat’s communication module. We stock OEM Daikin replacement thermostats for older systems and we also install aftermarket communicating-compatible controllers when the OEM part is discontinued or backordered. For non-communicating Daikin units, a quality universal thermostat will work fine, and we’ll tell you honestly which category yours falls into.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Daikin Thermostat Installation Is Failing
- Blank display or unresponsive touchscreen. If the screen is dark and fresh batteries don’t help, the thermostat’s power supply or main board has likely failed. On communicating models, this can also point to a break in the four-wire control line.
- Room temperature reads 4 – 6 degrees off. Daikin thermostats use an onboard thermistor, and in Georgia humidity, dust and moisture can coat the sensor over time. The reading drifts, the system runs too long or too short, and comfort suffers. A reading this far off usually means replacement, not calibration.
- System short-cycles. If the Daikin unit kicks on for three minutes, shuts off, then restarts ten minutes later, the thermostat relay is likely chattering. This is a real failure point on older Daikin CTK models, and it accelerates wear on the compressor. Don’t ignore it.
- Some functions work, others don’t. Heat runs but the fan never auto-adjusts. Cool mode works but scheduling is dead. On Daikin communicating systems, partial function loss signals a failing control module, not a settings issue.
- The thermostat won’t hold a schedule or resets itself. If programming disappears overnight or the clock keeps resetting, the thermostat’s memory chip has degraded. This is common in Marietta homes where wall cavities get very warm in the summer, which puts constant heat stress on the electronics.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a standard non-communicating Daikin thermostat swap in Marietta, expect to pay $180 – $260 complete. For a communicating Daikin thermostat replacement, the installed price runs $280 – $420, because the part itself is more expensive and the wiring check takes longer. Every quote includes the thermostat, mounting plate, wiring verification, system test in both heating and cooling modes, and a walkthrough of the basic settings. The price we hand you before work starts is the price you pay. If the thermostat we install fails inside a year, our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers it, and we return, replace it, and fix it, at no charge.
What drives the range: whether your Daikin system needs a communicating thermostat or a standard one, whether we need to pull a new wire to the wall, and whether your existing sub-base is reusable. We’ll tell you which end of the range you’re on before we touch a tool.
DIY or Call Us?
If your Daikin thermostat runs on standard 24-volt wiring and you’re comfortable with basic electrical work, a swap is a reasonable DIY project. Turn off power at the air handler and the breaker before you start. The risk: crossing low-voltage wires can short a fuse on the control board, and that’s a $120 part on some Daikin units. The bigger risk, one we see a few times every summer in Marietta, is installing a thermostat that isn’t actually compatible. We get calls from homeowners who wired a standard smart thermostat onto a Daikin FIT system, and now the blower runs at one speed and the humidity control quit. The fix involves more than putting the old thermostat back; the system often needs a re-initialization sequence to restore proper communication.
If your Daikin uses a four-wire communicating thermostat, please don’t attempt the swap yourself. The control voltage is low, but the logic is proprietary, and a wrong connection can damage the air handler’s control board. Call (762) 240-5599 and we’ll have one of our Daikin-trained technicians take care of it properly.
FAQs
Plan on 8 – 12 years for a communicating Daikin thermostat, and 10 – 15 for a standard model. Marietta’s hot, humid summers shorten that lifespan some, because heat and moisture in the wall cavity are hard on thermistors and control boards. If yours is older than that and acting up, replacement is usually smarter than paying for repeated service calls. Call (762) 240-5599 for a quick diagnosis.
In most cases, no. Thermostat internals are integrated boards and relays, not field-repairable parts. We can sometimes clean a corroded battery contact or tighten a loose terminal, but if the thermostat has a failed sensor or relay, the correct fix is replacement. We’ll tell you which one you need and what it costs before doing anything.
Most thermostat swaps take 45 to 90 minutes from arrival to system test. Communicating models take about 30 minutes longer because the technician must verify the four-wire connection and run the Daikin system through its initialization and self-check sequence.
Yes. We carry Daikin OEM communicating thermostats, Daikin One+ smart thermostats, and quality universal models that work with standard Daikin systems. We also stock parts for Carrier, Trane, and Lennox. If your thermostat is an older discontinued model, we’ll source a compatible replacement and schedule the install for a set day and time.
